2. Market overview
Overall trading stayed weak in the seasonal off-season, with downstream formulators drawing down inventory and placing only small essential orders; large orders were scarce. Channel spot supply was ample and traders cut prices to speed destocking and free up cash, leaving spot deals below ex-works quotes. Export order growth was limited and overseas trade stayed flat, while geopolitical friction kept crude and basic chemicals volatile and added uncertainty to logistics and export trade.
Of the more than 100 products tracked, 68% fell, 9% were unchanged and 23% rose year on year; month on month, 46% fell, 51% were unchanged and 3% rose.
