2. Market overview
The market remained in its traditional demand off-season, with new-cycle restocking still being worked out and all parts of the chain watching. Terminal buyers drew down inventory and bought only what they needed, keeping trade subdued. Safety and environmental inspections continued in some regions, output cuts and maintenance left operating rates at a phase low, and with limited cost support most mainstream technical prices edged softer.
Of the more than 100 products tracked, 64% fell, 10% were unchanged and 26% rose year on year; month on month, 38% fell, 59% were unchanged and 3% rose.
