2. Market overview
Off-season sentiment continued to dominate and the market moved sideways. On the supply side, upstream producers cut output or shut for maintenance, tightening availability; on the demand side, buying interest stayed weak with only scattered replenishment and limited government orders, so the market focused on drawing down stock. Cost pressure built as overseas geopolitical friction kept bulk chemicals and fine intermediates volatile, compounded by shifts in shipping rates and import-export regulation.
Of the more than 100 products tracked, 65% fell, 11% were unchanged and 24% rose year on year; month on month, 40% fell, 57% were unchanged and 3% rose.
