2. Market overview
The market moved through a phase of volatile consolidation as both upstream and downstream entered the off-season, with trading limited to essential needs. Costs remained under pressure from geopolitics, shipping and trade policy. Extreme weather raised chemical safety risks, leading to stricter inspections, output cuts and shutdowns, with industry operating rates held at low levels.
Of the more than 100 products tracked, 58% fell, 15% were unchanged and 27% rose year on year; month on month, 41% fell, 58% were unchanged and 1% rose.
