2. Market overview
The market continued to run weak, with several product categories about to enter their seasonal demand gap. Summer heat pushed upstream plants to lower operating rates, while half-year cash-collection pressure led some producers to sell at a discount; channel spot prices fell below ex-works quotations, creating a clear price inversion. Downstream formulators bought only for immediate needs and export demand released slowly, leaving overall trading thin.
Of the more than 100 products tracked, 58% fell, 12% were unchanged and 30% rose year on year; month on month, 50% fell, 50% were unchanged and 0% rose.
